Product Review: Soulmate Food

Recently I came across a product that I have been looking for the likes of for a while. A product that can wipe away all those problems with knowing what to eat, how much to eat and when to eat it.

In my view nutrition is one of the cornerstones of wellbeing (the others being Physical Activity, Lifestyle, and Mental Wellness), Soulmate Food aims to help you with this by providing nutritional sound meals, that help to complement your efforts in the remaining three areas to improve your overall levels of wellbeing.

In my ten years working in the wellbeing industry I have often been told by clients that they find nutritional control the hardest thing to deal with. As opposed to exercise which many people find it relatively easy (once they get in the right mind set) to slot into their diary time to exercise. There are so many distractions when it comes to nutrition that making headway to an improved diet can be hard. The common obstacles seem to be, I don’t know what I should eat, I don’t have time to shop for the right food, and I don’t have time to make the right food. Well Soulmate helps to remove all those barriers.

The product itself is a very simple and effective idea, initially you fill in a form on-line that identifies your goals, allowing the people at Soulmate to give you a nutritional program to match what you are looking to achieve. Common ones seem to be weight control, predominately loss but they can also provide weight gain diets, the company also works with a number of sporting teams, providing the diets that fit with the players individual needs.

The second section on the web site allows you to mark off foods that you do not like, this section is amazingly detailed. For example allowing you to cross off tomatoes but allow tomato paste. I was amazed at how even the most fussy eater could easily send in the information to ensure that the food that turns up at their door only contained what they liked.

The food is then delivered in three day blocks, it can be delivered wherever you like within the UK. It comes in a cold box ready to just pop in the fridge.

The food itself was high quality, all came individually rapped and labelled (detailing contents, how to cook, and when to eat), and most importantly tasted great. All meals can either be eaten how they arrive or require short pan or oven cooking, making dinner time extremely easy. There was also a great variety of meals over the days, which meant that the food never became boring.

At first glance the product does seem quiet expensive, at an average cost of £25 per day. But if you stop to consider that you are getting 5 meal a day, that have been specifically designed for your nutritional needs. You do not have to go shopping or on the whole cook and most importantly this product will help you to achieve your goals! The price does look alot more reasonable.

All in all I was very impressed by Soulmate product and the professionalism and knowledge of the staff. This product will have a great impact on helping individuals to achieve their wellbeing goals and especially weight control. So I give it a 10 out of 10, well done Soulmate!

Personal Challenges

I was talking to a friend of mine who recently set himself the challenge of running the Manchester 10k. This challenge he decided he would do in aid of charity, something that I have great respect for.

This started me thinking about the nature of how we all should challenge ourselves. You can not beat the feeling when you achieve a goal, and a lot of the time even though the journey can involve a lot of sweat and tears, it can also involve a lot of fun and excitement. I think in this modern world of instant gratification and quick fixes, we often forget this, achieving your goals quickly is great but so too is the often long and trying journey to achieving something worthwhile.

Personally it made me reflect on the challenges that I have set myself, both in terms of my wellbeing, business and also personally. I have reflected on what I have done and decided to push the limits and set myself even harder, new challenges for the coming twelve months (just not quiet decided what yet). I will keep you all updated as and when I get started.

Life is all about achieving new things, making the most of the sort time that we have on this earth. So why not look at doing something new and push your limits, today!

As usual if you have any comments or if you would like any advice feel free to contact me at trainer@foreight-fitness.co.uk

Seni 2008

A couple of weekends ago saw the world famous martial arts festival, Seni, held annually at Excel in London. The event seems to get bigger and better every year. This year the event saw its fair share of regular faces and many new ones. Many of those in attendance are highly skilled athletes in their chosen art, they dedicate much of their lives to training and learning.

The event this year included exhibits that covered the life of Bruce Lee, a man who has been an inspiration to many of us involved in the arts. Having role models is vital, in all areas of life. To see those who have achieved their goals and are still setting new ones is a great motivating factor.

Every year I am surprised at how people from such a wide range of martial arts can all come together in the spirit of learning and bettering themselves. Any of you out there who have an interest in the martial arts should definitely consider attending this wonderful event.

I think this is a ethos that we should all try and carry into our everyday life, and even our training. Firstly learn and be opened minded, you should constantly educate yourself and constantly improve in all areas of you life. Secondly, look up to role models, set yourself realistic goals and go all out to achieve them.

Until next time,

TOM

When Summer Finally Gets Here

When the sun shine finally starts breaking through and we can actually see that the seasons have changed. Why not take this point as an opportunity to mix up your training a bit? Training routines can get very stale if just left the same over a prolonged period of time. A mainly gym based routine can be mixed up with some more outdoor type training, such as walking, running, athletics, or team based sports!

The sun can always make a walk/run that little bit easier and more enjoyable! So why not get out and enjoy that sun? After all we get very little of it here in the UK (and especially in Manchester) so don’t put it off, do it today!

If you would like any advice on what activities you could get involved in feel free to contact me on the usual e-mail (trainer@foresight-fitness.co.uk).

Enjoy the sun!

Fad Diets

Do they work? Well most of the time NO, and if they do they are rarely what would be considered healthy.

Fad diets that are often marketed in a range of magazines, and this really annoys me. I get a large number of clients who come to me and say they have been reading this magazine and such a Caleb is only eating celery, should they follow that diet? No, No, No.

<>I try and encourage my clients to get out of the dieting cycle, of starting a new diet which is so restrictive you are already set up to fail, failing, going on a blow out, then having to start an even more restrictive diet to make up for your failure.

<>You need to ensure you are not starting something that would be near impossible to complete. What you should be aiming for, although seen as less glamorous by the magazines, is a well balanced healthy diet (high in fruit, vegetables, fibre, and water with the right amounts of protein and carbohydrates for your lifestyle). One that is not restrictive, and although might take some effort to stick to it is not impossible. <>I am deliberately trying to stay away from offering any specific dietary advice. You are all different, each and everyone of you have different goals, needs a different plan of action to improve your nutrition. But if you would like more information please feel free to contact me on trainer@foresight-fitness.co.uk. <>

Until next time, eat sensibly.

Finding Something You Love

I am constantly told by new clients that they hate to work out, gyms are not for them, they hate to run, rowing feels un-natural, etc… Many of the people that I come into contact with have such a negative view of exercise. They seem to feel that exercise is something that we have to endure to gain the results we want. Whatever they may be, weight loss, general fitness, longevity, health, injury prevention/rehabilitation, etc…

This image of sport and exercise in general being something to be endured is often developed in our childhood, with those who may see themselves as not being naturally talented at sport experiencing a great deal of misery from their PE lessons. Being given the choice between a few very limited activities (this is luckily changing) which they may not enjoy.

I encourage my clients to expose themselves to as many different exercise classes, sports, and gym routines as possible. I think that the more activities that you try the more likely you are to find one that you enjoy and therefore it will require a relatively smaller amount of motivation to stick with it.

Do not be limited in your view of what constitutes exercise, anything that gets you up and moving is a great start. So how about a challenge for all you out there, why not this week go out and try a new activity? A walk in the hills, a yoga class, some gardening, a karate class, anything that gets you up from your chair and out there moving!

For those of you new to exercise finding your activity may just take those bad PE class memories away, and make wellbeing a part of your life. For those of you who have been training a while it may just give you a new activity that kick starts a new phase in your training.

Until next time!

TOM
